About Us
Dance is joy and an expression of life! At Greater York Dance, we are dedicated to nurturing each student's development as they explore movement and the rewards associated with studying at a reputable dance and performing arts school. We have kind, friendly instructors who specialize in what they teach, and they love what they do. Dancers of all ages have many choices from styles of dance to frequency and focus taught with each dancer's individual needs in mind. We offer classes from Ballet to Modern to Hip Hop to Musical Theatre and we specialize in Children's Dance.
Our studios are spacious with mirrors, barres, up-to-date technology and sprung floors so that safely you dance. There is ample free parking, viewing windows, homework spaces with tables and free wireless internet access. The waiting area is huge with a large flat screen TV, free coffee, snacks and eating areas.
We offer many opportunities to the community from master classes with international guest artists to trophy awards for all performing students. Students may focus on whatever dance styles they choose, and we base your schedule on your personal dance priority rather than insist you choose a package. We offer travel and touring opportunities (our dancers will be performing at Disney World on New Year's Day, 2013), and several annual performance opportunities. In addition to an open program with classes for everyone, we house a true classical ballet training program for serious students who wish to study intensively.
Our students have gone on to study, teach or perform for such well-knowns as the Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, School of the American Ballet, North Carolina School of the Arts, university dance companies such as Goucher College, Towson University, University of the Arts, Temple University, the Urdang Academy and to professional careers. Greater York Dancers have performed at Busch Gardens, Six Flags, The Weird Al Yankovic Show, Ballet Cuba, the Annenburg Center for the Performing Arts of the University of Pennsylvania, Whitaker Center and Miss America Scholarship Program preliminaries to name a few. Dancers have also performed in dance videos, music videos and done modeling print work and commercials.
We are about family and as a nonprofit corporation dedicated to serving you, our revenues go back into our programs. We provide affordable instruction in a supportive and fun environment with performances for audiences of all ages and outreach to share our talents and give back.
